This is for,

noonatnine:

toxicmachine:

Watching movies every friday night, with the projecter on the backyard wall we painted white. For singing in the park with friends, no matter how bad and getting an applause (while waiting for the fireworks). For pink lemonade that’s too sweet, and home made shaved ice stands. For those late nights with friends, driving through the city, hanging out the window. For seemingly catching the perfect light all summer, that real hazy golden perfect soft light, where the shadows are all long and you can see every little bug like a star in the sky. For camping in the backyard, and taking cold baths, and reading on the roof by moonlight. This is for summer.

  1. Sometime Around Midnight by The Airborne Toxic Event to me, this isn’t a song, it’s a story and it just seems to symbolize all those hazy soft drunken nights.
  2. Cathy’s Clown by The Everly Brothers it’s sort of like a day lying on the beach, at sunset, chasing the water as it recedes into the ocean, then running from it as it licks your heels. A perfect day.
  3. The Girl by City and Colour it’s a sweet song, a soundtrack to a simple, beautiful, memory, one caught in that perfect light, the hazy golden perfect soft light.
  4. In the Morning by The Coral it’s that song you wake up to at noon. That song that you sing along to when you get ready for your day. Preferably a day at the zoo.
  5. Loco Commotion by PlayRadioPlay! the sound of a night that’s too busy for you, one that’s forgettable, but unforgettable at the same time. One that’s got you tongue-tied, maybe a little lonely, but all the more eager.
  6. Sex On Fire by Kings of Leon it’s the soundtrack of an evening downtown, eating at the Artichoke Cafe and seeing a movie at the Guild, it’s a Nob-Hill-night sort of song.
  7. Daylight by Matt & Kim the song of skating in the middle of the night with your friends. The song of being a child again, of having that urge to play hide and seek after sunset (even though the song is called Daylight).
  8. Hang Me Up to Dry by Cold War Kids I don’t know, it’s just a summer song. A summer evening song, one of watching your friends at the skate park, or of a long day of surfing.
  9. C’mon (On My Own) by Chester French It’s sort of the anthem of fed up lovers and rebellious teenagers. It’s the song of ditching the family barbeque to do your own thing.
  10. Closed Eyes by Cut Off Your Hands it’s the soundtrack of drinking strawberry wine and sneaking out to spend the night under the stars with your boyfriend, rolling in the grass and looking for four leafed clovers.
  11. Half Mast by Empire Of The Sun it’s like coming home from being gone for a long time. Like walking to the gas station with your cousins to buy a slurpee and skittles, sitting down on the curb and making jokes. It’s a familiar, warm, good-feeling song.
  12. Nightlife by The Soft Pack it’s just that. It’s the song of the night, a laid back drunken night spent at a concert at the Launch Pad and then over to a hole-in-the-wall bar.
  13. Hong Kong Garden by Siouxsie & the Banshees the soundtrack of playing tag in the aquarium and picking flowers from the botanical gardens, doing cartwheels on other peoples’ lawns and swimming in fountains.
  14. Reptilia by The Strokes the soundtrack of pure teenage fun. A night of sneaking into concerts, and going to “private” parties in apartment buildings you’ve never been to. A night of love, mischeif, and really great music.
  15. Blister in the Sun by Violent Femmes this song explains itself, just the anthem of everything summer.

I think this is beautiful. And spot on with every summer soundtrack.

What’s side B sound like?
