My brain fumbles for words in the dark, like lips pressed against a sheet of glass, a mark is left, incorporeal and ephemeral, here today and gone tomorrow, you’re burning on my subconscious, a latent desire, so tied up with the here and now. You’re brilliant and bold, vibrant and ever so glorious, a thousand sunsets, the sky stained with blood evening after evening, could never match up to the beauty that is you. Perhaps this is inappropriate, but I’m incurably young for my age and somehow feel that you’ve lived more than I, wise beyond your fifteen years. This is certainly not some deranged, Lolita-esque obsession, I myself being incapable of the sordid and the human, carnal desires and such being misplaced, far happier to spend my time collecting leaves from forest floors, to one day make a sepia rainbow, a stairway to another dimension, where perhaps I’m more than lifeless. Eighteen sounds so old, but I’ve spent the past three years of my life in a coma like state, my eyes rolled into the back of my skull, introspection and imagination forming this insane asylum, my own prison, primordial madness and unyielding, morbid, delusions. You make me smile.

can’t love someone, or not be loved?

I would say not being able to love someone.

Because when you can’t feel love, you’re barely human at all. When you can’t be loved, there’s still that longing, there’s still that hope that you will be, and it always keeps you going. But when you can’t love, when you can’t wholly give yourself over to another person, it leads to self-destruction. Your soul can’t go without loving, it can’t go without being shared. You’re much more alone than not being loved at all.

On the contrary, I think it’s sadder to not be loved at all. Because even when you hope you can share your soul, you never can. And that’s more dissapointing. And that’s the most miserable part of it I think. I’d like to say “I can’t love” rather than “I can’t be loved”.

I have no opinion.
